Summary

Fell’s Swoop is only a short cave and doesn’t take very long to explore, so isn’t necessarily worth a special visit. However it can easily be tacked on to a caving trip to Eglwys Faen or Agen Allwedd for an extra slice of underground adventure.

Location

NGR: SO 20111 15881 - what3words: ///reset.tribal.cave - Length 90m

From Whitewalls, walk along the tramroad in the direction of Agen Allwedd for about 400 metres and look for a small quarry on the left-hand side obscured by grassed-over spoil heaps. The entrance to the cave cannot be seen from the tramroad and is a 2m high rift in the cliff face with walled spoil heaps on either side.

Access

No restrictions.

Description

The muddy entrance rift reduces to a crawl to meet a junction. To the right, two crawls lead off, the lower ends quickly but the upper becomes very tight after around 15m but looks passable beyond. The main way on is up a short climb to a crawl which closes down over gour pools after 30m. The end of the cave has been extended slightly and is currently intermittently being dug by CSS members.
