One of the perks of joining a caving club is the use of club tackle for all kinds of caving and rigging. CSS is well equipped with an assortment of electron ladders, handlines, SRT ropes, tackle bags and everything else a caver should need. These are all available for club members use (accessed using a member’s electronic key fob), and can be borrowed for up to 1 week, though a longer period can be arranged if necessary via the Tackle Warden. All equipment must be returned to the tackle store in a clean and dry condition.
Planning a trip and wondering what rope lengths we have? See CSS Equipment List for a more comprehensive guide to the club tackle.
Novice Caving Kit
We also have a small selection of caving kit available for use when taking novices caving. This includes Warmbac Centre oversuits (small x1, medium x2, large x1, x-large x1), 3 helmets fitted with Pixa3 headtorches (AA batteries not included), 2 sets of kneepads and 2 belts. This equipment is for novice use only and must be booked out by a full member of the club and returned in a clean condition the same day.
We also have a collection of donated caving suits in various sizes and conditions – these can be used by anyone requiring them.
