Bonfire Weekend November 2022

A weekend of mixed underground activities including bolting, digging, a breakthrough, a selection of caving trips plus an enjoyable evening of fireworks, flames and feasting.

This was a well-attended club meet and a very sociable Friday night was enjoyed, along with the barrel of beer. Saturday morning saw a selection of caving trips taking place with four very different excursions into Agen Allwedd including a caving trip to North Wing/Aven Series and another undertaking the sporting challenge that is Northern Stream Passage. Plus a bolting team on a mission to reach a possible high-level passage in Main Passage and a digging team in Midnight Passage who enjoyed a breakthrough into a chamber dubbed ‘Spider Chamber’ due to its shape. There was also a caving trip in Ogof Cnwc to Busman’s Holiday. This was all followed by a feast of chilli, jacket spuds, snacks, beer, puddings and of course a massive bonfire and fireworks display. Caving trips to Cwm Dwr and Daren/Cnwc took place on Sunday, and more sterling work was completed on the Old Daren Sunday School.

See CSS newsletter Vol. 64, Nos. 10-12 for further information on the Midnight Passage dig and breakthrough into Spider Chamber.
